Javier Cha
Javier Cha (PhD, Harvard) is the founder and CEO of Kernel EdTech and an Assistant Professor of Digital Humanities at the University of Hong Kong. He has received more than $10 million HKD ($1.3 million USD) in grants and fellowships in Hong Kong, South Korea, United States, and Canada to support his experimental projects that address the challenges posed by big data and artificial intelligence in the humanities. Cha is deeply committed to bridging traditional historical scholarship with innovative digital methodologies. He has sixteen years of experience as a practitioner of digital humanities with formal training in GIS (2009), network analysis (2010), and culture analytics (2016) from Harvard and UCLA.
Director of Admissions & Operations
Veronica Koon
Veronica Koon is the Director of Admissions and Operations at Kernel. From 2011 to 2018, she was the founder and CEO of V-One Language Services, which offered business language courses and cultural training using tailored materials to international corporate clients in Hong Kong. From 2019 to 2022, she served as the President of the Seoul International Women's Association and, concurrently, as a board member of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Foreign Investment Advisor Council. Her former clients include Marriott, JP Morgan Chase, Beveland Asia Pacific, Acker Merrall & Condit, China Union Pay (Hong Kong), Standard Chartered (Shanghai), BASF, BNP, UBS, KPMG, and more.
Chief Innovation Officer
Henry Price
Henry Price (ABD, Imperial College London) is the Chief Innovation Officer of Kernel. He is an interdisciplinary mathematician and theoretical physicist who specialises in network theory, blockchain, and machine learning. Price has been involved in the growth of several start-up companies, including the financial management firms GCEX and Attestant Ltd., and currently serves as the Founder and Managing Director of SI Units, a London-based consultancy and boutique data science company. As a founding member of Kernel EdTech, Ltd., he divides his time between Hong Kong and London.
Manager of Educational Experience
Solomon Ho
Solomon Ho is Manager of Educational Experience at Kernel and currently completing his BA in Humanities and Digital Technologies at the University of Hong Kong, where he also serves as the student representative on joint consultative committee. At Kernel, his responsibilities include curriculum development and pedagogic strategies to accommodate learners with limited technological background.
